Terms of Use

Effective: October 17, 2026

These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) are an agreement between you and ProBit LLC (“ProBit”, “we”, “us”), the company that makes ProRDP. They cover the ProRDP app for macOS, including updates (the “App”), and the prordp.app website (the “Site”).

By downloading, installing, or using the App, or by using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use them. If you use ProRDP on behalf of an organization, you agree to these Terms on its behalf and confirm you have the authority to do so.

License to use ProRDP

The App is licensed, not sold. Subject to these Terms, ProBit grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App on Macs that you own or control.

Home and personal use

You may use the App free of charge for home and personal use, on as many Macs as you like, with no features held back. Personal use means non-commercial use by an individual, such as a homelab, hobby projects, or your own computers at home.

Commercial use

Using the App for or on behalf of a business, government, school, or other organization, or as part of any paid or commercial service, is commercial use. Commercial use will require a commercial license. Commercial licenses aren’t available to buy yet, and they’ll come with their own terms. Until then, email hello@prordp.app to ask about commercial use or whether your use counts as commercial. See Licensing.

Restrictions

Except as the law expressly allows despite this limitation, you may not:

• Copy, modify, or create derivative works of the App, other than making copies needed to install and use it as these Terms allow.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App, or try to derive its source code.
• Sell, rent, lease, sublicense, or redistribute the App, or offer it as a hosted or managed service, without our written permission. Point people to prordp.app instead.
• Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or other notices in the App.
• Bypass or interfere with the App’s update signing, license checks, or other security features.

Security and your use of ProRDP

ProRDP lets other devices view and control your Mac. You alone are responsible for securing your Mac, your network, and your use of the App. You use it at your own risk. ProBit doesn’t host, monitor, or control your server, your connections, or what you or anyone else does with them, and isn’t responsible for any of it.

That includes:

• Securing your environment. Choosing strong credentials and keeping them secret, keeping macOS and the App up to date, and configuring your firewall, router, VPN, and other network settings. You decide which networks and devices can reach the server, including whether it’s exposed to the internet.
• Who has access. Only using the App on computers you own or are authorized to access, and only giving remote access to people you trust. You’re responsible for everything done through your server, by you or by anyone who connects to it, with or without your permission.
• Your data. Backing up your Mac, and protecting any audit logs, session recordings, and other data the App creates on it.
• Following the law. Complying with the laws that apply to you, including laws on privacy, computer access, and recording. If you turn on session recording or audit logging, you’re responsible for giving any notice and getting any consent the law requires.

ProBit isn’t responsible for any unauthorized access to your Mac or network, any loss of or damage to your data or systems, or any other harm that results from how you set up, secure, or use the App. Security features in the App, such as Network Level Authentication, TLS, and audit logging, help, but no software can guarantee a system is secure.

Don’t use the App or the Site to break the law, to access computers without authorization, or to harm, monitor, or surveil anyone without their consent.

Updates

The App can check for and install updates. Updates are covered by these Terms unless they come with their own. You can turn off automatic update checks. We don’t have to provide updates, support, or any particular feature, and we may change or discontinue the App or the Site at any time.

Third-party services

The App and the Site rely on third-party services, such as GitHub for downloads and updates and YouTube for videos. Those services are governed by their own terms, and we aren’t responsible for them. The App works with RDP clients made by others, which are also governed by their own terms.

Feedback

If you send us suggestions or feedback, we may use them without any obligation to you.

Ownership

ProBit and its licensors own the App, the Site, and all of their content, including the ProRDP name and logo. These Terms don’t give you any rights to them except the limited license above.

ProRDP isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by Apple Inc. or Microsoft Corporation. macOS is a trademark of Apple Inc., and Windows and Remote Desktop are trademarks of Microsoft Corporation.

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect and how we use it.

Disclaimer of warranties

THE APP AND THE SITE ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PROBIT DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DON’T WARRANT THAT THE APP OR THE SITE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR FREE OF VULNERABILITIES, OR THAT THEY WILL MEET YOUR NEEDS.

Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PROBIT WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, REVENUE, OR BUSINESS, OR ANY UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS TO YOUR COMPUTERS, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE APP, THE SITE, OR THESE TERMS, EVEN IF WE’VE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF THOSE DAMAGES.

PROBIT’S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE APP, THE SITE, OR THESE TERMS IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE APP IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR US $50.

Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain warranties to be excluded or liability to be limited, so some of the above may not apply to you.

Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless ProBit and its members, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising out of your use of the App or the Site in violation of these Terms or the law.

Termination

Your license ends automatically if you break these Terms. You can end it at any time by deleting the App. When it ends, you must stop using the App and delete all copies. The sections on restrictions, ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, and governing law continue to apply after termination, as does the section on security and your use of ProRDP.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms, the App, or the Site will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Washington, and you and ProBit consent to their jurisdiction. Before filing a claim, please email us first. Most issues can be sorted out that way.

Export

You may not use or export the App in violation of United States export laws or sanctions, or the laws of the country where you use it.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the effective date above. If you keep using the App or the Site after a change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms.

General

These Terms, together with any commercial license you enter into with us, are the entire agreement between you and ProBit about the App and the Site. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our not enforcing a provision isn’t a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
