What ProBit LLC collects through the ProRDP app and the prordp.app website, and what it doesn't.

Effective: October 17, 2026

ProRDP is made by ProBit LLC (“ProBit”, “we”, “us”). This policy explains what information we collect through the ProRDP app for macOS (the “App”) and the prordp.app website (the “Site”), and what we do with it.

The short version: the App doesn’t collect or send us any of your data. The Site uses Google Analytics to count visits. If you email us, we have your email.

The ProRDP app

No telemetry, accounts, or cloud

The App has no telemetry, analytics, crash reporting, or tracking. You don’t need an account to use it, and it doesn’t connect to any server run by ProBit. Remote Desktop sessions go directly between your Mac and the RDP client you connect from. We never see them.

Data that stays on your Mac

To work, the App stores some data locally. It’s never sent to us.

  • Settings and credentials. Your preferences, the ProRDP account password or a macOS account’s NT hash, and your TLS certificate. Secrets are stored in your login keychain. See Settings › Account.
  • Audit logs and session recordings, if you turn them on. These are written to a folder on your Mac that you control. See Settings › Security.

The App asks macOS for Screen Recording and Accessibility permissions so that it can show your screen to, and accept input from, the RDP client you connect with. That screen content and input only travel between your Mac and that client.

Update checks

If automatic update checks are on, the App contacts api.github.com and github.com about once a day to look for new releases of ProRDP, and downloads an update from GitHub when you choose to install one. These requests carry a ProRDP/<version> user agent and nothing else about your Mac. Like any web server, GitHub sees your IP address when it receives them; its handling of that is covered by the GitHub Privacy Statement. You can turn update checks off in Settings › General › Software Update. See Updates.

Analytics

The Site uses Google Analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages they read. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects information such as the pages you view, how you got to the Site, your approximate location derived from your IP address, and your browser, device, and operating system. We use this only in aggregate, to improve the Site. We don’t sell it, and we don’t use it for advertising.

Google processes this data under its own terms. You can learn more at How Google uses information from sites that use its services, and you can opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser. The Site works fully without them.

Hosting

The Site is hosted on Microsoft Azure. Like any web host, Azure may process technical information such as your IP address and browser details to deliver pages and keep the service secure.

Embedded videos and downloads

Some pages embed YouTube videos using YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). YouTube doesn’t load or set cookies until you press play. Once you do, Google’s Privacy Policy applies.

The App’s download links and release notes are hosted on GitHub, so following them takes you to GitHub, where its privacy statement applies.

When you contact us

If you email us, for example at hello@prordp.app, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write. We use it to reply to you, and to follow up on what you asked about. We keep it as long as needed for that, and delete it if you ask.

How we share information

We don’t sell or rent personal information. We share it only:

  • With the service providers named above (Google, Microsoft, and GitHub), so they can provide their services to us.
  • When required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of ProBit, our users, or others.
  • With a successor, if ProBit or ProRDP is part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. This policy would continue to apply to information collected before then.

Your choices and rights

You can block or delete cookies in your browser, use the Google Analytics opt-out add-on, and turn off update checks in the App.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, or to object to how we use it. Since the only personal information we hold directly is email correspondence, the simplest way to exercise these rights is to email hello@prordp.app.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold. The App is designed so that your credentials and sessions never leave your control. See Updates for how releases are signed and verified. No system is perfectly secure, though, and we can’t guarantee absolute security.

Children

ProRDP isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we’ll delete it.

International visitors

ProBit LLC is based in the United States. If you visit the Site or contact us from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the effective date above. If a change significantly affects how we handle your information, we’ll make that clear on the Site or in the App’s release notes.
