Getting Started

This guide takes you from download to your first Remote Desktop session.

Requirements

• macOS 15 Sequoia or later
• A Mac with Apple silicon or an Intel processor
• A Remote Desktop client, such as Windows App or Remote Desktop Connection (mstsc) on Windows

Step 1: Install

1. Download the latest release.
2. Open the downloaded DMG file and drag ProRDP to the Applications folder.
3. Launch ProRDP.

Step 2: Grant permissions

ProRDP asks for the following macOS permissions on first launch:

• Screen Recording: Needed to capture the screen for remote viewing. Enable it in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Screen Recording.
• Accessibility: Needed to control the Mac remotely. Enable it in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Accessibility.

Make sure to quit and reopen ProRDP after granting permissions. macOS applies some grants only when the app next launches.

Step 3: Add an account

1. Open ProRDP and go to the Accounts tab.
2. Select between a ProRDP account or a macOS account depending on how you want to authenticate.
3. Enter the required credentials for the selected account type.
4. Click Save.

Step 4: Connect from a client

1. Open ProRDP on the Mac you want to connect to and note the Mac’s address.
2. On your Remote Desktop client, add a new PC using the Mac’s address.
3. Sign in with the account credentials for the Mac.
